Compensation awarded for substandard dental treatment

The claimant was advised by her NHS dentist to seek private treatment for gum disease. She sought advice from Dr Emanuele Clozza at yourdentist.co.uk.  She was advised that she was suitable for a procedure named ‘Teeth In A Day’ which involved removing all of her teeth and replacing with implants. She was not offered alternative treatment but was advised that this procedure would resolve her concerns and last forever. The claimant therefore opted for this course of treatment.

The claimant noticed shortly after the procedure that she was in a lot of pain and that her teeth were wobbling.

She returned to the dental surgery and was advised that implant in her lower jaw had failed.

The claimant was fitted with a temporary implant however her follow-up appointments were repeatedly cancelled and the claimant was informed that the practice had gone into liquidation.

A claim was brought against Dr Emanuele Clozza for substandard dental treatment causing the inappropriate removal of all of the claimant’s teeth. The dentist had failed to preserve viable teeth requiring the claimant to undergo extensive dental treatment.

A settlement was achieved for damages to compensate the claimant for her pain and suffering and treatment costs in the sum of £80,000.
