Six figure settlement obtained for patient who suffered avoidable loss of vision in his right eye

The claimant had elevated intraocular pressure in his right eye. He was seen at Moorfields Hospital and should have been seen in the Glaucoma clinic at Charing Cross Hospital within 1-2 weeks. The referral letter was not sent and the claimant was not seen until months later, by which time he had irreversible loss of vision to the right eye.

Liability was partially admitted in the Letter of Response and following negotiations with the Defendant, a negotiated settlement was achieved for £150,000.
