Supporting a client to run a property lettings business

Thomson Snell & Passmore has a long history of acting for individuals whose needs evolve over time. A client was referred to us whose husband had died, leaving her to run the family business, which was a burden she didn’t feel she could continue with.

The main asset was the site the business was run from and which the client, together with a mutual surveyor friend, realised could be transformed into an income stream. Katherine advised on the site split and continues to act on new lettings and landlord and tenant matters.

Thomson Snell & Passmore’s Wills, Estate & Tax Planning team was also able to advise on estate planning (taking into account the business assets) and its Commercial team on IP related issues. Both of which greatly assisted the client in navigating the future and enabling her to be in control going forward.

Katherine has enjoyed playing a part in supporting the client on her journey to become a savvy landlord who runs a profitable commercial property lettings business.
